Selection Matrix

Choose by Market,
Not by Keyword

The right material depends on target retail price, customer expectation, design structure, durability needs and packaging positioning.

925 sterling silverBest for premium positioning, giftable products and buyers who need precious-metal messaging. Confirm plating, stone setting, weight and target price before quoting. UK and EU buyers can use the 925 sterling silver jewellery manufacturer guide.
Stainless steelUseful for everyday-wear, water-resistant or tarnish-resistant positioning. Buyers often ask about 316L stainless steel and PVD gold color. See the PVD stainless steel manufacturer page.
Brass with platingCommon for fashion jewelry, trend styles and flexible design shapes. Finish, thickness, stone quality and QC expectations should be defined in the RFQ.

Buyer FAQ

Material Questions
Before Sampling

Can QiuQiu help choose the right jewelry material?

Yes. QiuQiu can review your target price, design reference, market positioning and durability needs before recommending a feasible material and finish route.

Is PVD always the best choice?

No. PVD can be useful for stainless steel everyday-wear positioning, but the best finish depends on product structure, color requirement, budget and expected customer promise.

Can I mix materials in one collection?

Yes. Many brands use different materials by price tier, such as stainless steel for everyday basics, brass for trend pieces and 925 silver for premium items.

What material details should be confirmed before bulk production?

Confirm base material, plating color, stone or pearl quality, size, weight, logo, packaging, target market and any durability or compliance expectations.

Material Decision Record

Match the Material
to the Claim and Channel

Material choice affects weight, structure, finish route, price, care language, testing and customer expectation. “Gold jewelry” is not a sufficient technical specification.

01Base material

State brass, stainless steel grade direction, 925 silver or another route and explain the target retail position.

02Finish system

Separate electroplating, PVD, rhodium or other finish language; color alone does not describe the process.

03Wear expectation

Describe intended use, skin contact, climate, care and durability positioning without promising permanent waterproof or tarnish-proof performance.

04Evidence request

Add buyer-specified composition, nickel release, chemical or performance tests and identify whether they apply to sample or production lot.

05Listing language

Publish only material and finish wording supported by the confirmed specification and appropriate evidence.

Gold-filled construction, micron electroplating and PVD are different routes and should not be treated as interchangeable search terms.
