Sample Cost

What You Are
Actually Paying For

A sample is not only one finished piece. The quote may include design preparation, tooling, materials, finishing, assembly and the work needed to establish a repeatable production standard.

Design preparationReference review, dimensions, CAD direction, technical clarification and production-feasibility decisions.
Tooling and componentsNew molds, wax or prototype work, custom findings, chains, clasps, stones and special components.
Material and finishMetal, target weight, polishing, texture, plating, enamel, stone setting and surface details.
Brand presentationLogo engraving, cards, pouches, boxes, labels and packaging samples may be quoted separately.
Revision scopeClarify how many design or physical-sample revisions are expected and what counts as a new specification.

Sample Lead Time

3–7 Days Is a Plan,
Not a Blanket Promise

Straightforward samples are commonly planned around 3–7 business days after design details and payment are confirmed. The quotation should state the actual start point and schedule for your project.

New molds, uncommon stones, custom chains, special plating, complex assembly, testing requirements, holiday capacity or buyer revisions can extend the timeline.

Approval Standard

Approve the Sample
Before Bulk Begins

Record the approved appearance, dimensions, function, material direction, finish, stone placement, logo and packaging. A clear approval standard protects both the buyer and factory during bulk production and repeat orders.

One design-trained project lead stays involved from reference review through revisions, production coordination, packaging, delivery and after-sales, reducing information loss between stages.

Visual approvalProportion, color, polish, texture, stone setting, logo placement and packaging presentation.
Measured approvalDimensions, weight direction, chain length, closure, post, ring size and other functional points.
Change controlRecord every approved revision so bulk production is compared with the latest agreed sample, not an earlier image.

Buyer FAQ

Sample Questions
Before You Pay

How much does a custom jewelry sample cost?

There is no responsible fixed price for every design. CAD, tooling, material, weight, stones, plating, components, packaging and revision scope all affect the quotation.

How long does a custom jewelry sample take?

Straightforward samples are commonly planned around 3–7 business days after design details and payment are confirmed. Complex molds, special materials, testing or revisions can take longer.

Can you make a sample from a reference photo?

Yes. A reference can clarify style, structure, size, material, finish and stones. QiuQiu can recommend a development route while avoiding direct copying of protected designs. See the reference-photo development guide.

Can I request packaging with the sample?

Yes. Logo cards, pouches, boxes, inserts and labels can be reviewed, but packaging samples and packaging MOQ may be quoted separately.

Does sample approval automatically confirm the bulk price?

Not always. Bulk price also depends on final quantity, specification, packaging and production conditions. Confirm both the approved sample standard and final bulk quotation before production.

Sample Quote Anatomy

Compare the Scope,
Not Only the Sample Price

Two sample quotes are not comparable unless they include the same design work, tooling, material, finish, stones, packaging, testing, revision boundary and shipping responsibility.

01Design preparation

Clarify whether the quote includes design interpretation, CAD, technical drawing or only sampling from an existing specification.

02Tooling and components

Separate molds, custom findings, logo dies, special stones and reusable tooling from the physical sample charge.

03Revision boundary

Record which revision is included, what counts as a new direction and who pays when the approved brief changes.

04Timing boundary

The clock starts after details and payment are confirmed; complex molds, special components, testing and revisions can extend the plan.

05Bulk relationship

Confirm whether any tooling or sample charge affects the later bulk order and what must be re-approved before production.

A 3-7 business-day sample plan applies only to suitable straightforward projects; it is not a blanket promise for every design.
